Part 1:
The evil witch, who'd plagued and attacked us?
She was now defeated.
Our QCP friends had saved the day!
They (along with Colin and Genevieve) had swooped in and defeated our enemies.
Wrongs were righted, justice was meted out.
Good had triumphed over evil.
Success was ours!
Never again would that witch darken our door.
The story that had began months before?
Now over and done.
We’d emerged unscathed, undamaged, and quite alive.
Uubiquatus returned us all back home from the candy domain.
I was never so glad to see Rick's little house.

The QCP heroes deliberated as to their course of action.
Soon coming to a decision!
They would take the evil witch, Dresda Kul-Vayn, back to their world.
I wasn’t sure of the legality of it all – extradition by magician? – but didn’t really care.
She was out of the picture and I heartily approved.
Let them do what seemed right.
In addition, the letter C and Krenderen were also taken away as prisoners.
Uubiquatus said he would attempt to turn C over to the Alphabet’s custody.
Krenderen’s status was hazier, as the heroes felt they needed additional clarity into his past crimes.
Nizzik was also in tow, destined to serve his penance as Elena’s caged bird.
All ne’er-do-wells present and secured.
The storm had subsided.
Uubiquatus, Elena, and Criss Sallis said their goodbyes and went home to their world.
With thankful hearts, and a little sadness, we bade farewell to our allies from a parallel world.

A search for a neighbor's lost dog.
Leading to a chance encounter with a malevolent being.
And narrow escapes.
Helpful heroes.
Life and death.
Dresda Kul-Vayn was someone we'd never, ever forget.
And ass the days passed?
With the story ended?
Something ... lingered.
The sweet flavor of victory carried a bitter aftertaste.
Our triumph?
It proved difficult to swallow.
We'd merely borne witness to true heroes.
While we ourselves standing, ultimately, passive and useless.
For without the interference of others?
We would have perished!
Self-reliance.
Valiant bravery.
Not ours to use and possess.
And oh ... oh, we knew it.
Rick, Dale and I struggled with the notion that maybe – probably – we were not quite up to the challenge.
What did that make us?
Frauds?
This question spun around us as if a moon locked in gravity's thrall.

As always, time passed.
Life chugged on unabated.
And a few weeks later?
Our worries about the witch dissolved into memories.
Rick continued with his plans for his new business.
I focused on school, and marching band, and my plans to study weather.
Dale kept on being Dale.
And yet.
Our concerns?
They still lingered.
Lingered and transformed into serious doubts.
Doubts that multiplied and crowded us for space.
Like a room full of those dolls.
You know?
Those weird dolls.
The ones hidden inside another.
Nesting dolls!
Just like nesting dolls, our doubts subtly grew, advancing and multiplying.
Our worries soon surrounded us completely.
